A Prestigious Commission

Our artisanal workshop Hijos de Estévez had the honor of being chosen to craft the Granadine lanterns that today provide lighting for this great architectural work in Granada. The auditorium was designed and directed by the prestigious architect D. José María García de Paredes Barreda (Seville 1924-1990 Madrid).

Construction of the Manuel de Falla Auditorium began in 1974 and culminated with its inauguration on June 10, 1978. The lighting was specifically designed to complement the exceptional acoustics of the venue, dedicated to the celebrated Granadine composer.

Acoustic Adaptation

The original lighting design concept had to be slightly modified after sound tests to ensure perfect harmony between lighting and acoustics.

Resilience After the Fire

The 1986 fire completely destroyed both halls and all contents of the building. Our workshop was chosen again for the reconstruction.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Second Chance

After the 1986 fire, our workshop recreated all the lanterns, demonstrating confidence in our artisanal work.

Lighting Improvement

During reconstruction, slight modifications were implemented that allowed for improved overhead light emission for proper sheet music viewing.

The Manuel de Falla Auditorium is not just a cultural venue, but a symbol of the city of Granada and its rich musical heritage. Our participation in this project, not once but twice, represents the trust that cultural institutions place in traditional Granadine craftsmanship.

The lanterns we created for this auditorium are more than simple lighting elements; they are artisanal pieces that contribute to the unique atmosphere of a space dedicated to quality music. Every concert held under this light is a living testimony to the durability of fine craftsmanship.
